So last ride I heard a random metallic ticking most noticeable on the pri side of bike and most at low load cruising but very random. Started to tear into it and my rear exh PR is severely bent!

So now let's say the noise is from a dropped seat, did the valve kiss the piston? I still have 205psi CCP F and R.

What's next? These are the Mik/Branch "Flowmetric" heads that ya'll talk bad about. Should I drive them down to Signal Hill (Branch O'Keefe) and have them freshen them up for 5 or 6 bills? Walk them over to Jim's, or cart them up to Dave Mackie? Should I be hoping to just repair the one seat and run'm?(this is what my wallet wants)
Shipping them off to Kirby is NOT out of the Q, but im not crazy about the idea.

After talking with Branch I think its a spring.

Or a sticky valve that got kissed by the piston. When you tear it apart the cause will be obvious.

Yup! wait and see what caused the p'rod to bend....   Gotta have the route cause before you decide on repairs....

With luck it will just be a spring, at least it is late in the season so you will have a little time to plan/finance the repair.

Be careful with this thread, it is only a matter of time before the posts will appear about you can fix it with a complete 124 kit.  :hyst:

Broken inner spring.

Are the Andrews "high lift" double springs any good? They're a small fraction of the price of any others out there.

I used to use them on Evos. Never had a problem.

The Andrews were $37 and the S&S Sidewinders were $160. Oh well.

On a recommendation I went with the ones for up to .650 lift even though I'm running the ss585. Is that the way to do it?

Maybe. What was the cause of the broken spring?

"Heads were done back when Mikuni own us, we use much better springs now".  That and 53k miles of fun loving, bar hopping style riding.
