Have you gone before? What do you take? What do they have available inside the gate? Is a tent really necessary??? Just can't take everything including the kitchen sink so looking for what's worked for others...

Thanks!

Yes a tent is a must, unless you just plan on sleeping where you fall over at and if that's the case then you don't even need a sleeping bag.
Needed items,(for me anyways) tent, sleeping bag, toiletries. Nice to have, roll up chair, change of clothes.
The run is pretty self contained once inside. Food, drinks, showers and traditional run paraphernalia.

They have food beer margeritas and showers. If you drink alot in can get expensive. people do bring in there own. The river is cold but if its hot out it feels good. It is a real good time. You do need a tent and maybe some earplugs if you want much sleep
you better love living life cuz dying is a pain in the ass

Yes, a tent is a necessity. You'll also need cash for the Nitrous Oxide concession.  :potstir:

You can no longer buy nitrous ballons at the run.
After a three year investigation by the FBI, California Highway Patrol, Mendocino County Sheriff's Office, Major Crimes Task Force, Mendocino County District Attorney's Office and Humboldt County Sheriff's office this dangerous drug is no longer a threat to run participants.
Thank god there aren't any real crimes or threats to get in the way of such important law enforcement investigations.
What do you suppose all this cost taxpayers? That is the real crime here. :gob:

I'd bet that they'll still have a nitrous sale somewhere on the property. Bikers are very inventive.

One of the best of the "old school" bike runs in Ca. Unless you stay outside via motel or whatever bring a tent. If it doesn't rain, which can happen, the mornings are very damp. I havn't pulled the trigger on this years run because of the music lineup isn't as good as the last 3 yrs., or others before, but may still go anyway. Get your feet wet and go. The first time for someone usually will let you know if it suits you. I perfer it to the "mega runs" some states have, But thats just me.....

I went 02 thru 07 - good run -  Get there early on Friday morning to stand even half a chance at getting a decent camp spot.  You'll need a tent and a good bag.  Altho it gets hot during the day, it gets cold at night.  Some years, we never fired the bikes up after we got there.  Others, we took a bunch of rides around the area.  Saturday morning breakfast at Garberville is good - but crowded - cause that's where everyone else is going too.  Spend some time at burnout hill and if it's hot, spend some time at the river - usually a good show down there.  I think George Thorogood is playing this year.  Since we come in from the north, we spend Thursday nite in Eureka which is 80 miles from Piercy - makes for an easy Friday morning ride.  They say no alcohol to be brought in, but we always buy a case in Piercy and some ice - and they also sell ice down by the stage.  If you do ride into town, watch for the CHP - they are thick!
Good luck

It's a hoot watching the "law" with all their picture taken from the top of the hill and helicopters flying around. Enjoy this Northern Calif. bike run and the surrounding area, good times will be had:up:

It used to be Harleys only but I understand that they wussed out a few years back and now they let anything in. I went several times in the early 90's until the tickets got up to $100. We also went a couple of times and stayed in the nearby campground for $5.00 a night and didn't go inside. I think it's called the Richardson Grove. We ran into town and filled my sidecar up with beer and Carlo Rossi Vin Rose and then had a very nice party with about ten people there in the camground.

The times that we stayed inside of the Redwood Run Campground I never saw any police inside. They stayed away. I was there the year it rained (can't remember the exact year) and it turned into a giant mudhole. Ha.

I also used to go to the Bridgeport, Caifornia run every year until they cancelled it. It was a lot of fun but there were too many fistfights and the police protection required cost too much so the city canned the run. It was a beautiful ride up there from Sacramento, though. I miss that one. .

I have friends who still go to Bridgeport, though I havn't. The year it rained at the RWR still a good time, especially watching those guys run their bike through that mud bog. Early 80's maybe, I'm not sure. :bf:

we camped behind the top of where you look down on to the stage.   Don't camp near a big group that knows each others.  We had a group that had their bike radio blaring.

make sure you ride the Ave of the Giant...  a must!

There will be lots of law enforcement outside the event and they will be looking for an excuse to pull you over and you will do the DUI thing if they smell alcohol.  If you want to party, don't ride.  If you want to ride, don't party.  Nothing wrong with riding during the day and then coming back to the event grounds for the evening party.
