Recently I my bike broke down due to a regulator failure.   A lead that runs to the main breaker shorted to the frame (dead short) causing the bike to die suddenly.  Ive seen this before where the insulation on the lead wears away due to vibration.  It completely took the regulator out.  I replaced the regulator and my question is, should I have concern about the stator?   My meter reads a solid 14.7 VDC when I start it, and the specific resistance is within range, but could there still be damage to the stator?   Is it alright to chance it or is it just a matter if time before the stator goes as well?  Was a severe short , killing the bike and causing the main breaker to try to reset then trip again.  I was able to disconnect the battery within minutes of the failure but am now worried the stator insulation made have been damaged. Maybe Im overthinking this thing but any advise/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

My 02.. If the breaker shut things down I would just run it.  Sounds like it is charging real good at 14.7

I have a 99 FLHTC in the shop for service and I found the same bare wire.   Customer hadn't complained about it but I will reroute the leads to save him a headache down the road
