SO a few months back I installed Harley's remote garage door opener on my bike. Its seem like it has a really weak signal, it works it will open the garage door as long as you are right in front of it. When I used to keep the old remote in my pocket I could hit the button from a block away and it would be opening when I rolled around the corner and up the driveway. Anyone else have the Harley opener or have the same thing?

They are funny animals. Mine will work from one house away as I'm coming towards the driveway, but sometimes REFUSES to work IN the driveway.

I also have a security light above the driveway that's triggered by movement. Something in it's "radar" the opener doesn't like.

Once I learned the sweet zone it works near flawlessly.

I have the official Harley opener installed in my 2007 RK.

This is the 3rd bike I have used it with & mine has always worked super.  I would never have bought this for the ridiculous $ that Harley charges, but I won it in a raffle over 10 years ago & I absolutely love it.

Mine will open the door from 3-4 houses down my street.

Mine works great as long as I'm in the garage or the front wheel is within a few feet in front of the garage door.  May have something to do with the metal siding the structure is made from.  Been meaning to extend the antenna outside.
Every day, I'm one day closer...  WTF!  I'm not near 70 yrs. old!

I was thinking the same thing, the receiver unit that plugs into outlet only has like a 6-8" antenna. It might help to make it longer don't know.

You guys having trouble with your openers, do you have LED lights in the operator?  I did and found that when the lights were

"on" they really interfered with the signal from my truck.

Yes I have led headlights and turn signals. Any ideas on how to boost the signal or receiver.

Mark is referring to led lights in your opener, not your bike. Some led bulbs are noisy and will cause interference.

I put the receiver for mine way up high in the front corner of my garage & it works great.

I would try moving the receiver to a better location.

The other day I extended the receiver wire by about 15'. I just stripped the end, added a butt connector and some extra wire I had from a garage door opener eye. It made a huge difference for me it now will works from across the street and then some.

I installed a new garage door opener a few years ago and had to extend the antenna from the opener to the front of the garage to get it to work without being right in front of the door.  The opener still doesn't have great range, but is okay from a house away.  So I agree that extending the antenna can help anemic openers.

Mine won't work unless I'm in the driveway. I like it that way. I don't want it triggering from some spurious signal. We had a problem like that several years ago across town. The homeowners were lucky that none of them were burglarized. I don't think they ever discovered what was triggering them.
Going down that long, lonesome highway. Gonna live life my way.

Now I am about where I was when I had to carry it in my pocket and had to reach down and push the button. I have heard of people opening them with a bootleg signal. I should be in pretty good shape now.

I bought this one   Mo-door is the company I opted to use a blank rocker on my RG  I can hit it from down the street and my door opens. But I did mount the module in the upper part of the fairing. But just like hidden antennas they lack signal have a bike with metallic paint

I had the same -right in front of the door - problems because I'v got aluminum siding and a steel clad garage door.  I moved the receiver into the attic of the garage (above the door & siding) and now it works from at least a house away.

Once I extended the antenna, I can flash the lights roll into the drive and right into the garage.

 That's what's needed, distance between the door opener housing and the Harley receiver.
