this will probably turn into a battle. I sold my 675 G cams and 660 lift springs plus the correct .085 longer valves on Ebay and shipped them. They all had less than 500 miles on them. Now the buyer doesn't want to pay for them, and says they aren't in the condition I described. What a bunch of BS. Jerk probably doesn't know what to do with them, or will switch out the parts on me. Plus I sold my D carb and manifold off the same engine and that buyer won't resond at all to pay. I think the buyer base has gone down the shi**er. This is going to probably be a war but I think I am done with selling on Ebay and will take the parts and just use them for interesting paper weights.

Get the money before shipping.

Maybe I am just lucky, but have almost 200 ebay deals completed and no issues yet.

Yep, money in the bank/hand first.  I have no intent on stiffing anyone and don't give others any opportunity to stiff me.

deathwish

Oh yeah the clown paid and now wants to dispute them. That is why it will be a war i'm sure.  Heck i even listed every part number so  buyer can look them up to be sure it is what they want.

Choose your battles carefully. This one might not be worth the headache.
I'd tell him to return the items at his expense.
If you're satisfied the parts are good, refund the money and re-list them.
Most people on Ebay seem to be fair. I'm at 300 selling and relatively no issues to date.
I understand your frustrations, just don't think it's worth the PITA.

Let us know how you make out.

Yeah that sucks. It is too bad an honest seller gets grief with all the dead-beats on there.

Along as we're bitchin, I think the new e-bay motors sucks. I only have dial-up because I live in the rubbarb. Their search engines suck. When you try to narrow down your search, you end up having to look at 1,000 jap parts.

Been using ebay for along time.  I have had more than 400 transactions.  I've never been stiffed.  But, I agree with one of the others, have him send those back to you at his expense, and inspect the parts, and give him his money back.  There's an idiot on almost every street.  But I have to say most are going to treat you right.  On this forum, I think, everyone will treat you right!

Never send the item until its paid for, and always use delevery confirmation.  that way your covered .. :pop:

For what it's worth:

I just had a transaction go like that but I was the buyer and I ultimately ended up having to file a paypal dispute.  The bottom line: a speedometer arrived that did not work.  The seller accused me of shorting it out on installation, then he accused me of switching his speedo with a bad one.  He had me calling his mechanic, an HD dealer, his buddy who originally owned the part, etc.  It was a nightmare!

My advice: Start with an offer that he return the parts (his dime on the shipping both ways).  Upon confirmation the parts have not been damaged, refund his purchase price minus actual shipping (no handling fee).  I think that is always a fair compromise and you are not out any cash, just time.

For the record, I would have gladly accepted that kind of an offer in the very beginning.  Truth is his speedo sat around on his friend's workbench for a year before this guy sold it (I'm guessing it was dropped or whatever).  Turns out it was still under warranty and I suspect the reason he finally agreed to a full refund (inc. shipping) was because he could get a brand new one from HD to sell for more.

Either way. good luck

I use ebay and haven't had any bad transactions. I had a guy on the old HTT try to stiff me for a set of heads by doing a charge back on a credit card through paypal, he told his credit card company he didn't authorize the payment. I had saved all communication with him, had his correct address and email, he signed for the package sent ups. Paypal stood by me and did not do the charge back. I should have flamed him then, but I let paypal handle it.

One thing I did find out, if you use paypal send the package signature required and have a tracking number.
You only need to be 10% smarter than the thing your working on.

I've had pretty good luck buying stuff on e-bay and using paypal.  Except for the occasional poor packaging on cast parts and being stiffed once on a freakin $60 item.  I used the paypal dispute process to the "T" and got the money back but it takes time.

Big Dan

I've done 500 transactions, with very little headaches. If the guy is unhappy, your best bet is to take the stuff back, and even pay for the shipping. It's not worth a bad hit on your feedback.

The best advice I ever got, was to "describe the item(s) as if there are no pictures, and take pictures as if there is no description."

Sorry ya ran into a flake. They're out there, but luckily they seem to be in the minority.

Sell everything as is, and buy it as if it was as is.

Don't buy anything direct from Hong Kong on E Bay....
I have to file a complaint today with paypal for a digital scale I never got...

I've engaged in hundreds of eBay transactions from around the world, both as buyer and seller, for a wide range of stuff. The majority of these transactions have been excellent. Coincidentally, the few transactions that weren't excellent were over Harley parts. Fortunately, Paypal came to my rescue.

Ultrashovel

He's nothing more than a noy-paying bidder. Follow the rules set forth on eBay and write him up. You can also put in a dispute with PayPal.

I just complained to e bay about the item I didn't get from Hong Kong...
They quickly refunded the money to my Pay Pal acct...

Yeah, I'm still waiting for my 2007 SERG I bought for $5,300.00 to arrive...its been over a year now.  Some sellers ya just cant trust.  lol

All, watch out also for those too good to be true deals.  The one above is true, but of course I didnt buy it...I knew better.  But, I am sure many get taken on eBay, just like on some of those spams.  Be careful.

Only thing I got took on was a bluetooth earpiece for my cell.  It was $30.00, and had a part broken inside.  By the time I tried to get in touch with the seller, he was long gone and banished from eBay...at least with that ID.  Oh well.

I just bought a set of rims that were damaged in shipping. The person refunded my money including shipping charges back and forth.  ebayers are just like you and me selling stuff. And like every where else we run into a$$holes. But there are rules in place to protect us, if we can figure them out.     :embarrassed:

dispute is settled. He was looking at the wrong account. He had a problem with flywheel he had gotten and I never sold flywheels. Now to deal with the guy that bid but hasn't paid. At least I still have those parts so that isn't such a big deal.

jclark311

Just turn the non paying bidder in to EBAY, and list it again. You can say in your ad that you only want to be payed by Money Order, but most people prefer Pay Pal, it is buyer protection.
