I have a 2003 ultra limited I'm thinking of going the bolt on 110 kit.  first is it just a bolt on
and anything to look out for

I have woods tw55 cams and se air cleaner that runs pretty dam good as it is just looking for a little more pep   as it is I do good against a half a dozen 107?s that I ride with they cant pass me

but need a little more my softail is a 131 jims not looking to that wild

The bolt on 110 won't work on a 2003 as a "bolt on"

You will have to replace your crank to 4 3/8".

I think that is a Screaming Eagle model, and it would be a 95". But, as always, I could be so wrong.

That was the original 103 based off of the 88/95 engine ...shorter stroke larger bore. ... By all accounts the short stroke engine.    The later 103 is a longer stroke smaller bore engine based off of the 96 engine ... There are 2 completely different 103 engines .
Everyone I know says the 1st 103 was a mucher better preformer than the latter 103 ...

The original Screaming Eagle engine was the 95 inch with the 203 cam ...
The second Screamimg Eagle engine was the 103 based off the 95 engine using the 253 cam ...

The bolt-on 110 kit will not fit the early 103 engine !

What was the stroke of this second engine?

The 88/95/103 stroke is 4.000
The 96/103/110 stroke is 4.375

Hossamania

I learned something new today, I did not know about the original 103.

Don D

But the information is in error
A 103 has been around in factory bikes, first with a hot forged crank, 4.375 stroke since 2004 in the CVO. In 2007 the 6 speed was introduced and the 4.375 stroke wheels became cold forged and the tir tolerance grew. The introduction of a CVO 110 that year with the same crank. A factory 103 didn't appear again until 2008. In 2009 ACRs were added due to starting issues and the 2008 models year 103 could be retrofitted to those heads by the dealer.

Hossamania

Now I'm confused again. I'm OK with that.

All 103's are 4.375 stroke x 3.875 bore, 96" is the same stroke as 103 but with the same bore as a 88" (3.750), and 110" same stroke but with a 4" bore.

Think the TC has been stroked twice. stock-BB-stoke. stock-bb-stroke. stock-bb-M8.

Yep and we'll said
So if someone added a 4.375 crank to that 2003..
May be possible to get it to 110 but would not be plug and play.

And I didn't realize my 4" hot forged crank can go to 120ci. Would there even be any base surface left.

So, Moose? What is the current engine in your 2003 Ultra? (BB/Flywheel change already been done, or is it still stock?)
If you do have a 103, then a piston mod, to fit the full width rods, will be the first mod you need to do the drop-on 110 kit.

Limited (FLHTK) models didn't happen along until 2010 models, and came with 103, heated grips, ACRs, etc.)
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

Don D

Yep and don't forget the 103 in the 2008 and 2009 police EG

Tattoo, What was "special" about the CVO 103?

rigidthumper

HD never released a 4.060' X 4" engine- there was a Jims offering, years ago, like that.
CVO 103s had SE253 cams and large chamber, lo compression heads. Replaced by the 110s in 2007.  Standard 96/103's had ~86cc chamber heads, ACRs, 1.8/1.57 valves with the same cams as the 96 engines.

no disrespect but as already stated HD has never had a 4.060" bore with a 4.00" stroke 103".

Perfect-Yes, the 110 drop on kit will work well with what you have. Tune would make it shine.
