Any of you guys put your bike/motor on the  dyno ? Did they come close to advertised tq & hp ratings?

speed limit

When I first installed my 127 back in 06 so don't quote me it made 101 hp and like 119 ft. lbs. that was with a 45 mikuni and a thunder header, my tuner suspected the thunder header was the bottle neck,so i switched to a borzilla and a 48 mikuni, that combination made like 128 hp tq. was mid 130s. since that time I have changed to oval port heads ported by wards, changed cams several times currently running a wood 9f with cycle shack m pipes it makes 148hp

I pulled the Ultima carb pretty much at the get go and run a 45 Mik with some slightly opened up up Cycle Shack muff's on the OEM headers and after a spell on the dyno with carb and ignition tweaking only netted 105 hp 107 tq and advertised is 115, 120 so I'm a few cans short of a twelve pack dang it. When I put it back on the drum I'll remove the mufflers and see if theres something there. I also have the factory suppied ignition in it that cuts out at 6k I have their Dyna made adjustable unit but not convinced it will help other than rev limit maybe someone knows better. I'm happy with it in my FXR just want my $$ worth

Are the advertised numbers at the crank or at the wheel?

Was thinking that to, guess I should look into that. But maybe its apple to oranges a 107 TC would hit 115./ 120 easy and the spec's on this Ultima should to I would think

I`m thinking your exhaust may be an issue and I'm sure the slope on a stock ignition is

When I mentioned the factory installed ignition what I should probably have said was the Ultima unit that comes installed in the motor

My M pipes leave 8 hp on the table with baffles installed

I just went out and thru on a set of Rush mufs I have with 2 1/4 baffle I'll run over to the ware house tommorow and run it on the dyno an see if they help any. What ignition you running?

Did a couple runs with 2 1/4" baffle Rush slip-ons. Way to big of a baffle but wanted to remove any possible restriction. No more power just a nasty strait pipe dip graph. I have a real nice set set of the internal disc Supertrapp staggered duals that I'm trYing to find some 3" disc's for. They won't produce any more peak hp but will be interesting to see what I can get torque wise.I have a feeling there more suited for stock motors. Goofing around with some other components may show a small change here or there but I think I've seen about all this 107 has

I had a nasty little Ultima 113 a while back. I had John Sachs go over the heads with a bored G carb. Ran a DTT iggy just used the dials, no programming and a Bassani Road Rage pipe. It was in a 94 FXLR and made 139.8HP 133 TQ. Dyno sheets are posted in the dyno section

gryphon

Did you keep the factory cam in that 113?

Reddog74usa

Yes. Other than mods listed I keep everything else Ultima

Over on another post I been talking about tuning some Suppertrapps on my 107" . Well it dropped a cylinder Sunday on the dyno and here's why . Funny thing is of all the bikes on my dyno over the years not one ever broke on it (although there were some that should have) except now and its mine :emoGroan: I have been fortunate that my bikes rarely ever chit on me but the last time one did over ten years ago was the very same thing a broken rocker arm go figure :kick:

Well that's messed up. Was it just the end of the rocker arm or did the rocker support break also?

tmwmoose

just what ya see there just the finger

I have heard of others having issues with the roller rocker arms in their Ultima's. As a precaution this winter with about 30k on the motor I swapped mine out for a set of S&S roller rockers that I had sitting around here. When I pulled my rocker assemblies apart I inspected everything very carefully and could find no sign of any troubles to come. The arms looked good as did the supports. In fact, up until I read your post this morning I felt like I should have just left them alone. All the other failed rocker arms I've heard about happened at pretty low miles. How many miles on yours before this happened.

1600 miles.  I have set of S&S rollers as well but the two are different ratios . If the running / performance differences is nill I would rather use my S&S arms . I had this same thing happen years ago with a set Jims arms in my TC. Yeah if there's a manufacturing flaw I guess it would show up soon

gryphon

Well that sounds about right. Pretty much every other failure I've heard of happened within about 2000 miles or so. That sucks but at least you weren't out in BFE somewhere. I'm running the same cam as yours in my Ultima 120. When I swapped out the rocker arms I also swapped cams. I was running an EVL 5010 but with it's 42 degree intake closing it was really sluggish trying to start. I dropped in the MW248 and I'm pretty happy with it. Even with the reduced lift of the S&S rocker arms. With the Ultima 1.7 rocker arms your cam is .625 intake and .600 exhaust. With the S&S rocker arms it drops down to .600 intake and .580 exhaust. I haven't run this cam with the 1.7 ratio arms so I don't know if there's a big difference but I am happy with the cam and S&S rocker combination.

tmwmoose

Well I'm debateing what to do run a set of new HD arms I have or the S&S arms. There a little play in the rollers and I replaced them real soon to when I shelved them and I remember when I would r&r them they always seem to have the same play in them when I removed them. up n down wiseI really don't care for roller rockers and I use cams in my TC so I don't have to.

Don't screw around-S&S. Period.
