Anyone else heard about Harley dropping the V-Rod after the '17 models?.,,

The above bike is nice. Biggest problem is that gas tank holds a little over 3.5 gallons of gas. Range would be a about 120 miles.

Tanks have been 5 gal since about 07. The Street Rod in 06, I believe.

my father-in-law bought a used 05 and this was the first time I had ridden one.  They are nice bikes.  I hope they keep them or at least a variation of the motor that's not a 500 or 750 size displacement

Couple of comments.  First, IMO the Vrod bagged pictured above is awesome.  That might actually get me back in a dealer.  Or maybe get a used Vrod and the kit and make my own.  From what (little) I've heard from a rod owners, that engine would make a good tourer as is.  Really amazes me that HD never explored the potential of that engine.

Next, I live in Europe most of the year and Vrods have seemingly always been more popular here.  Understand, Harley's are not all that popular in themselves--mostly just too expensive, but among their small numbers, Vrods are, I think, more represented than in the US.

But the new Street bikes, especially the 750, seem to be well received.  Again, the Harley brand just does' work the same here.  These people want a less expensive bike that they can ride in all weather as a daily commuter and not fuss over it.  More utilitarian.  But I'm still seeing a few Street model HD's around.

The bike pictured has the small gas tank. The position of the ignition switch is were the location is for the smaller tank. When they went to the 5 gallon tank the switch was moved to the front of the bike. The 06 Street Rod does have a 5 gallon tank.

Correct. Good eye. Even if the pictured bike had the aftermarket Ricks 5 gal tank, the switch would be relocated. The R was also the first to have the inverted fork before the Muscle. Least favoured of all the Vrsc line but for other reasons.

Have owned four V-Rods. Still is my favorite Harley. I hope to own another one some day.

It would not surprise me if Harley revised the V-Rod motor, made it more compact and lighter, more power and put it in a new frame. Companies stop production of models all the time then bring them out again as a new updated version. Look at the Chevy Camaro and Dodge Viper
