Anyone ever use a 1998-2005 harley cd player in this year bike ?

The 98 was still cassette and I am not sure of the date they went CD but 2003 was one of the CD's.  My understanding is the early CD units are a simple plug and play swap.  IIRC, there is a change in the stereo harness at some point before the 98 vintage but I don't know what year or if it's a serious enough problem to cause actual issues changing over.

You're correct about the casette part, what i meant was. According to biketronics and hw, they 96 and 97 are a year only harnesses, the 98-05 era, then 06 and up, im looking at purchasing a 2005 harley cd player to use in my 96, im just curious if its a simple repin or what. If you buy a upper harness from harley, it supercedes to a 98 number, so it cant be that much different ,

So, how did it work out? There is an '06 available and I'm wondering about putting it in my '02....

I've got a 2001 FLTR and I put a stock Harman Kardon unit from a 2012 - all that's needed is to turn the plug that goes into the unit upside down and plug it in. Had this unit in for over 5 years and has worked fine.
Pleasing everyone is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

1996 and 1997 had a diff harness than 98-2013. Hawg Wired makes an adapter for those two years to utilize 98 thru 2013 head unit
