Riding a Road Glide w/o Head Unit?

A buddy of mine is waiting for a new Boom Box to be installed and wants to ride anyway. The original box is defective and sent to HD USA. Does anybody know whether it's possible to ride the bike (SG 2015) w/o the head unit? The dealer says that it is not allowed because the boom box provides stability to the fairing!? I cann't believe that. Thanks for any input!
