Title: Saddlebag Guards for 1995 FLHT
Post by: GeoRocket on January 02, 2020, 03:53:29 PM
Hello Everyone –

This site has been very valuable to me – I have learned much over the past year.  Thanks in advance everyone for any guidance you can provide.

I have a 1995 FLHT with 55Kmi.  It runs like new and I plan to keep it.  I am thinking about adding saddlebag guards, but it seems that most of the ones I find are for 1997 and newer models.

I would like to buy a "kit" or a complete used "takeoff", but finding this for a 1995 is tough.
Would the kits for the 1997- fit my bike?  I know that 1997 represented some changes to the ElectraGlide, but I am not sure the changes impacted the bag guards.

I have been looking at these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LH85LLG/ and similar kits, but they all list bikes 1997- and newer.  I assume that they will not fit my 1995.

Can anyone recommend a kit for my 1995 FLHT?

I did find these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014K56YUK/ and they claim to fit, but I like the style of the ones above better.

I have the parts catalog for my bike, but I am not too motivated to piece together all of the bits necessary.

Thanks everyone!  Happy New Year!  George

AFAIK know most will fit up
I have a 1994 RK and just bolted a much newer set on, in fact, i bolted the whole tine set from a 2015 street glide on.

Hi Thumper - thanks for the quick reply.

Turns out that the main parts that changed beginning in 1997 were:

1995         1997
49202-93   49188-97   Guard, Right
49203-93   49172-97   Guard, Left

All of the saddlebag parts aft of these were unchanged.

Thanks again.
George

At one point, the bend of the upper corner of that guard changed - to avoid the passenger's thigh coming in contact with it.  That might that change and difference.

2015 bolted up to my 1995.
In fact I bolted the 2015 street glide tin, bags,  and fairing on it as it was cheaper than a paint job.
