Title: sound upgrade for a '16 Street Glide Special
Post by: mayor on July 16, 2022, 06:27:36 AM
I have a 2016 Street Glide Special that I am not happy with the sound of the stereo.  I think it just sounds flat.
The Boom speakers on my '09 Street Glide sound much better (there's no ext amp on that one, just powered by the stock radio).  I think I need to change the speakers out on my '16 at a minimum, but I'm not sure what direction to go.  There seems to be a wide range of prices out there for speaker upgrades, and there seems to be a wide range of impedances (2-6 ohm).  What size speaker is my stock speakers, and what is the stock impedance?  It looks like 6.5" and 2ohm.  Is that right?

I'm not sure if I want to put an amp in now, or even if I will put an amp in, but I would like to keep that option open in the future.  I'm looking for advice and recommendations of what I should be checking out.

Have you tried "remapping"  (changing he profile settings) on the amp? TR Cent will let you do this.

I never bought the full Centurion, so I don't have that option.

There's a guy (NVSAudio) on YouTube from NJ that seems to have some decent ideas. I did the Rockford-Fosgate stage 2 on my 2020 Road Glide and it's ok but there are better options. Soundz or Biketronic but depends if you're wanting replace your current system or tweek it.
