Bike has stood for a couple of years, and it looks a goodly amount of oil has drained off into the sump - what I'd call wet sumping in the old Brit iron world. I'm not seeing a plug underneath from which I might drain this. Am I going to be OK running the bike up to get this returned, or will I need to turn the bike upside down?

Thanks.

Normal for a gravity fed system- start & idle for a minute or two should put most all of it back into the tank.
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

OK thanks - I'll proceed on that basis. My old Beezer gets all a bit shirty if I try that with that one.

Fresh fuel and a bit of charge on the old battery and the bike started up within a crank or two. Quickly settled to a good idle and oil returned to the tank as advised. Good stuff. Still some work to do and might treat it to an oil and filter change before taking to the road.
