Title: Custom Battery Box Blues
Post by: bluehighwayfx on September 26, 2018, 06:49:27 PM
Well I am ready to fill up the custom battery box on my 76 FXE.   The box was sized for an AC  Delco ATZ 145 BS but I hope there is a better choice out there. The battery needs to be 4 1/2 in high, 3 1/2 W, and 7 inches long or less and about 310 CCA.  There is no way in hell a stock battery will fit, the box was built for the space that we had with no room to stretch.

Oh, as an additional bit of information, she has the big alternator installed so no worries charging most anything.

Actually AGM.  The engineering lab listened to my specs and size limitations and gave me a part number.  It works even though it is less cca than the oem and smaller than my maximum.
He told me that AGM worked better in a shovel, something about vibration even though we know shovels don't have vibration.
