Replacing a weeping shift shaft seal with a Cometic 9259. Not sure which side is oil side(A or B). The A side does have a spring but the B side also has something metal in it.
Getting too old to be sitting on the garage floor tearing into the primary again. Any help. [attach=0]

A is oil side- you should see the B side when installed. I wrap the splines of the shaft with heat shrink when installing so they dont hurt the seal.
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

Shipping tape works just as well and it's nice and thin.

Thanks Rigidthumper, Buglet

Was thinking the A side was the oil side, I checked the IPB seal 12052A and it is labeled oil side and that is the side with the spring. I have a piece of shrink wrap for the splines.
