Got something weird happening with the stereo the last couple days.
When listening to the FM radio while riding the signal sounds like it is fading in and out as if you where out in the wide open spaces of the flat lands and a normal strong signal fades out.
Everything else seems to be working, channel changing, clock keeping time , volume working , adjustments of bass, tremble and fader, the normal lights , etc...
Curious if anyone knows of if there is a diagnostic or just change the unit out when the Pixies get angry and let the Blue Smoke out ?
Not a very challenging question I know, but thats all I got.
TIA.

I don't think they're worth fixing. Lots of head units available that have bluetooth streaming, usb input,
more powerful amp and better sound that aren't expensive. You can buy kits to make them integrate with the harley hand controls too. There are marine options for water proof too. If I remember where I bought my stuff to replace my Harman Kardon oem head unit, I'll let you know

I was kinda leaning the way you mention, but   I would toss out a question...
Biketronics is one of a few kits available that will work with the HD controls.
Thank You for your reply AC :)

Back when these HK Radios started appearing in our Glides ('05 was it?) many people were having similar issues as yours eventually leading to complete signal failure. Iron Cross Audio on the East Coast (USA) offered a repair option and many of my friends took advantage of that. Eventually HD came out with their "fix" (two new Handlebar Clamp Bolts with shorter heads) and it seemed to work as no further issues arose and the issue seemed to die-off.

A couple of my buds went the upgrade to Marine Head (Sony) and hand control adaptor haerness route after installing the new bolts and they're fine - yet thinner wallets. It's a personal choice.

We're all A-holes. It's to what degree that makes us different.

Yes, Biketronics is the kit I used and it worked very well.

At the same time I also put in an amp and upgraded speakers. The head unit was the least expensive of those items.

If i had my time again, I wouldn't bother changing anything and keep the non operational head unit as a clock. On rides when I wanted to listen to music, ear moulded headphones were superior for music sound (and I only needed a bit of volume, could hear my surroundings etc), audio navigation and protecting my ears from the wind.

Good luck with it

Thanks Ac and Taco....maybe the Angry Gypsies will let the Blue Smoke out and then I'll decide.
