Title: Geny Shovel oil pump nut torque
Post by: Roadwhimp on May 16, 2022, 09:52:50 AM
I have searched the forum for this but couldn't find anything specific with torque specs and type of gasket material.  Currently working on 1966 Shovel with stock oil pump.  Book says to torque no more than 60 inch lbs but that is using the old style plastic gaskets. I am using the black James paper gaskets.  I have heard the the torque is 90-120 inch lbs when using these due to their thickness. Sounds excessive.  Looking for advice.  Thanks...

90-120 inch lbs is listed in Clymer book for 78-up shovels with black paper gaskets.
