Craig, after you changed to single plug heads did you notice any difference in your kickstarting routine? What was the motivation for changing from dual plug heads.

Well almost a year later and I put a set of the Tall Boys Cycles Footboard Relocation Kits on my 2008 bagger. I have a set as well for my 2009.

I need to adjust the shifter and then see if I need a longer shifter, but I don't think so. You can see how the board location changed from the photo above. Further forward, heel dropped down, and out a touch. I also just put new 13" shocks in place of the 12" shocks so I have additional lean angle.

I have a few more maintenance items to get done before I test ride them. I can't believe I actually have some time to work on one of mine.

You cannot see attachments on this board.

$40.00 less than the Cycle Rama.

So I found out from a friend. Didn't know those things were that expensive.

Twin Cam / Re: Complete transmisson remov...

Something to know about the early six speed transmissions. In 2010 they changed the fifth gear set from straight cut gears to helical cut gears. Why this matters is that the speedometer input reads the fifth gear. So when you use a 2010 and newer Twin Cam six speed in an earlier six speed bike, the speedometer will not function correctly. There is however a way to make the later model transmission work correctly in an earlier bike. You have to take it to the dealer and have them update the ECM per service bulletin M1330.

That being said, two dealers near me would not work on my bike to update the ECM. Two reasons, they won't work on a 2008 as it's over 15 years old. The other and more likely reason was I have to trailer it there because my bike won't run on the stock ECM. And I have to flash the TTS tune after they upgrade per service bulletin M1330. So ask your dealer about this service before getting another transmission.

What's wrong with yours that it can't be fixed?

ADDED: You can reuse your fifth gear, the countershaft and the fifth gear dog ring in a newer transmission if they're in good shape. That way the speedometer would work as it should. I say if in good shape because you can't buy them anymore.

Getting tired of working on my 07 transmisson. Just weighing my options. Was thinking about upgrading to a later model tranny.

Probably already know, but 06's had the 8 degree versus 25 degree injector issues as well.

What is the voltage at the battery when the starter button is pushed? Have you tried jumping the battery as a test?
The battery is always a suspect, especially when it can't possibly be the battery. 12.25 standing volts on the battery is about 50% charged. 12.5v is 70% charge.
