Title: M8 squeaks at 2100 rpm?
Post by: mbrannum on July 04, 2021, 04:04:03 PM
Hello all,
I recently have developed an issue that I don't see anyone else having.
Between 2000 and 2300 rpm under light load  about 20% on the throttle>I have what sounds like a squeak in the exhaust starting around the front jug. I have been thru every bolt, heat shield, exhaust gasket, etc....It does not do this sitting still in neutral.. only under load, and at temperature... I have always fed her 93 octane, plugs are great.....

Does anyone have anything similar?

Thanks
Mike.....

   I thought if it was a touring bike with the rubber hangers, a few drops of brake fluid can determine if the squeak is at the inside of the hanger.  Pretty common and easy to silence.

Do you have hiway pegs? Have you ruled out the brake pedal? Headlight trim ring? Do you have a chrome cover on the regulator? Look for other than exhaust issue, even from the left side, sound travels.

18 fatboy with 114.  Stock header pipes with TAB performance slip ons.

I will look at the nacelle  today.

The sound reminds me of when I was a kid and I would hear the diesel engine engines spool up and have a similar noise...
I'm going to try and get a recording of it....
