My '04 XL1200R the day I brought it home. Bought it about 6 months ago with only 3,750 miles on it. And yes I have replaced the broken oil tank cap since then.
Since this is my first post on this forum, allow me a little intro. I'm an older fart and I've been riding (with a license) for 52 years. Dad was a Harley mechanic most of his life and was an instructor at the Army's motorcycle mechanic school in Ft. Knox during WWII. So, I'm kinda partial to Harleys, but I'm not a fanatic. I have owned bikes from all the major manufacturers over the years and enjoyed them all. The Roadster currently shares the garage with an '09 Electra Glide Classic, an '03 Moto Guzzi California Titanium, and a '74 Yamaha DT360.
A small project to occupy myself during last winter. A 72 replica on a 06' 883 low named "872".

An 883 came up for sale with a legal Beijing tag.... good buy with a legal tag which is worth more than the bike.....but I was wondering what is the word on the 883L .....it is running fine and is a 2012 with less than 10K kilometers on the clock. Any mods anyone has done and were happy with, any problems with these bikes.. I noticed 1200 conversions seem to be frequent....
My 1986 Sporty ................

:agree: first thing I did with my 93 was but Cycle Shack Drags on mine :SM: blip the throttle and see flames coming out -
My RoadKing had $99 Run Roader drags from Jireh cycle. Flames, noise, looks, and pissed off friends riding anywhere near me. Loved 'em!
:bf: Can't upload photos from my phone sorry. Yeah I love the flames also , but neighbors hate me.

Hey mate, I didn't realise that it was possible to run saddlebags and the factory rack at the same time.
Are they factory bags?
that is a factor I didn't know if it would work or not.. as I am in Beijing I actually bought the bags some time ago on a sale .. bundled a few vanity parts to get the shipping, pack em in a big red suitcase and brought back to China.... as to the fitment .....I will try and get some photos ... post em.... but yeah .. we were able to get the rear rack seated with little problem .... yes to answer the question they are the sportster bags offered by the MoCo
Synthetic Leather Saddlebags
Part Number 90330-08
on the battery side, I had a folding number plate so had to go to a center leaning tag display and relocation of signals....was kind of worried as to turn signal clearance of the bag lid .. which has a snap on the rear but the relocated turn signal caused no real restriction .. but the sweeping tail design of the lid leaves a lot of room at the back for clearance... which was the main reason I choose those ...
rack pic
and this is mine, directly from Italy!! :chop:

Also on a long ride, do you feel heat from pipes?

Thanks! They're Storz/BUB pipes that were made for '04-on rubber mount Sportsters but they don't make them anymore. They're fine when moving, the only time you can feel the heat is at stoplights mostly when it's above 80 degrees out.
