Title: PCIII timing
Post by: Rotti1 on May 20, 2013, 03:59:12 PM
I had my bike map made on a dyno using my PCIII
After the bike ran great coming home,4 hr drive
The next night went riding with my son, in the backwoods road and noticed a "slight" ping at 2300 rpm during a roll on. Called tuner, said he will look at it next time Im down. He suggeested setting on the timing tables, 80% & 100% to zero removing the + values.
I did and pinging gone, bike still runs great.
I got 93.5 hp/ 103.lbs torque
With higher compression 10.2:1, bigger valves and porting, woods tw6 cam
95 bb.
Question is, realizing the AFR is important, how much is the seat of my pants going to notice timing changes? As oppose to chasing numbers?
Is is really necessary for a mild build?
Thanks

Timing by the seat dyno won't be real accurate "but" will get you close for street riding. See this link for some general info. Yea I know some people will turn up their nose at the source but it is still good info especially to start with.

There are other sources on line and I'm sure someone else will also comment.
