Title: saddlebag keys.
Post by: roadkingdresser on June 23, 2020, 03:05:18 PM
anybody on here know anything about the locks on the older saddlebags. I'm guessing they are 60's 'a friend bought a 68 shovel a couple yrs. ago and sold it. Just happen to see the bags in his garage and now i have them. want to put them on my 66. i know from experience that they don't like to stay closed. does anybody know where i could get a key? the locks are about a 1/4" thick and it's a simple lock. the lock in them works i can lock them with a small screw driver. thanks

I don't know if there were different keys but I have a set of those bags (flat bottom, same latch, 63-68 model I think). My key number is 42 same as the keys Im seeing on eBay

They are all the same in that vintage.  Real locks with cut keys didn't show up until '67-'68 sometime.

Actually 1969 is when the Chicago locks and keys started with the latch hooks inside the bag.
