Hi Folks,   I have been helping a friend get a 1992 FXRS Convertible back on the road. He has owned this bike for about 15 years and it has been sitting for at least 18 months whilst he has been working overseas.  Fitting a $5 starter relay and soaking the carb jets in cleaner has got the old girl up and running well. He reckons the bike is running better than it ever has,he was going to sell her but has since changed his mind. I have suggested a spruce up without spending too much.

I have the inner primary off to take care off some slop in the g/box shifter lever and replace the 4 seals.  I also intend machining/fitting 2 bronze bushes into the existing plastic sleeve (34632-84B) and would like to know the i.d of this sleeve when new ?, I will be aiming to ream the bushes for minimum clearance.

Love to hear if anybody else has done this with the existing sleeve, as retirees we have got lots of time but no money.

Cheers,
hp

Save yourself some headaches and just get one of these.

This guy makes them also, and will be faster to get one out.

Hi there,  Thanks for your reply,  yes I saw the Vulcanworks version on Ebay but as I live downunder in New Zealand ,the freight was prohibitive at US$42 for the sleeve and US$38 shipping .

I will still have a go at machining ,got lots of time and I have some bronze bushes lying around that are close to size.

cheers,
