The 'new' ride from a month ago. Sadly, it's been under the cover since then.

Thanks, I've ridden it to work once in the last month....Ready for some drier and perhaps warmer air.

How are you liking it over your old Softail?
If the government gives you everything you want,
it can take everything you have.

How are you liking it over your old Softail?
much more comfy, but a bit slower which is probably mostly from the higher gearing and a bit more weight.

We can help you fix that slower part...

It's definitely a thought, but so is just lowering the gearing a bit so that 5th is comfy at 55mph. Right now, anything less than 60mph, 4th is so much happier feeling. But the higher 5th is nice and smooth when cruising at 75-80mph.

I actually lowered my gearing to 3:37 on the Twin Cam, and I still run 4th gear most of the time at 60-65 mph, especially in traffic and other than lazy cruising. Acceleration at 55mph in 5th gear is quite languid. But, I do have an rpm cam, as opposed to a torque cam.
At least with the rubber mount motor, it's still smooth at higher rpms.

for the evo maybe an EV23 or equivalent, bolt in, mild cam until you need it

I'll try not to derail this too much further with one last post.

I was considering the EV27 and a pulley change to lower my final drive. But I think you could be right with the EV23 for low-end Torque and keep my higher gearing since I do a good bit of 70+ cruising...

decisions, decisions...but until then, I'm gonna enjoy riding, upgrades just might wait until next winter.  :chop:

edit: EV13 looks like a good milder cam as well.

all good grinds - the 27 may not be right for you, I think the 27 on that bike may give you some more low end torque  I have the EV23 on mine with a 'thunderjet' largest jet, it comes on in the higher RPM, kinda like the old 4 barrel carbs use to do, very streetable until I twist it.
