Title: 1985 FXWG Starter Relay
Post by: dubepj on November 14, 2018, 03:35:34 PM
My bike is a 1985 FXWG, Evo engine with a 4 speed, rear belt drive.
My starter relay the the old style big unit and now is located under the transmission held in place with a couple small Allen screws. Doesn't look like this is where is should be. Does anyone know the original located for the starter relay. thanks a bunch.

On the Shovelhead models similar to yours, the relay was attached to the underside of the battery tray.

AND it's the 1" square (or so) black plastic relay. My FL has a screw to hold it in place on the battery tray.

Or this (http://i.imgur.com/6UL1jWVl.jpg)

One of the fat terminals goes to battery + (10ga wire)
Other fat terminal goes to the small terminal on the starter solenoid (10ga wire)
