Title: Eliminating Linked brakes on M8
Post by: mkriggen on December 06, 2021, 06:11:44 AM
Anybody out there figured out how to disable the Linked brakes system on M8 baggers without losing the ABS? My current thinking is to remove the front right brake line to the caliper, cap the port in the tripletree manifold, and run a new line from the left caliper over to the right caliper. Would also add a new MC with a larger diameter port for the added load. This should work for the brakes themselves, but I don't know how it'll effect the ABS.

Mahalo for any insights,
Mike.

What would be the benefit of that. The link only work over a certain MPH's, some were around 35 mph anything under that the work separate.

As he said above. Why bother? What detriment have you encountered due to it?
From my understanding the "linked" is done through the ABS unit.
So if you're just running a line from the front master to caliper to circumvent the ABS unit.
Then you will not have ABS.

After having an experience on bike with linked brakes which I really never thought anything about, I don't think I'll buy another new one that is not equipped with them.
