Title: Software levels
Post by: johnchev89 on October 24, 2018, 05:25:23 PM
Maybe the experts can answer this?
Is it possible to use a power vision tune map from a 2016 cvo softail in a 2012 cvo softail.
Have been out of luck finding a base map for my 12 softail convertible.   Fuel moto nor dynojet has one .
I guess the tbw is what the problem is.

Looks like the 12 uses Map based VE table and the 16 uses Throttle position based VE.  Pretty sure it has to have Throttle by wire to be map based.  Power Vision is pretty liberal as to letting swap to different software levels.  The 12 was pre digital and was still analog so very possible you can put a tune for CVO touring on it for 12.  They used 044 software strategy and was Map based ve.  If you have the PV married to the bike you can do a copy of current from bike and use it as base map.  Hopefully one of these will get you going. Looked on SE tuner and your bike uses 025 software level and is Throttle by wire.  Looks like only 12 and 13 had throttle by wire.

The 2012 & 2013 Softail CVOs used a 34249-11 ECM, & 025 level calibrations.
The 2016 Softail S models  ( no CVO Softails were made in 2016) used a 41000057 Can Bus ECM, & 617 level calibrations.
So, not compatible.

I think as some others have said .....your best bet is to use the PV to pull the stock tune and use it.....unless you have some Big Mods done you should be able to get it close with using this and doing a few Auto Tune runs ....

It's just a decent starting point, better than stock Cal but needs massaged.
