Hi, please can you give me your opinion about theese 40-46 tank badges?
I know they were on a knucklehead, I made the magnate test and it sticks to them, so they aren't made of brass. I know HD made stamped steel ones too and the magnet should stick yo them.
Is there a way to check if they are genuine old badges or just reproductions?
Thanks.

The Harley Davidson Data Book shows '40 &'41 badges to be stamped brass, chrome plated and the colors in your pics. '42 - '45 were painted grey, with red lettering and black speed lines, but does not say if brass or steel. Chrome plated badges became available later in the '46 model year.
Thanks Breeze for your answer. So is there a way to know if my badge are original or reproduction? I know they are made of steel. But I read there was a G stamped I the rear of the badge in some of them. I'd l8ke to know if I have the original ones.
:nix: My knowledge is limited to the book I have.
Ok thank you very much.
Anyone with further info?
