Twin Cam / Re: Engine to trans gasket...?

Quote from: FSG on July 10, 2025, 07:31:45 PMhave the PR Tubes been drilled out ?

I have a set of drilled out pushrod tubes, but I'm saving them for a future build. I had a couple sets drilled out by a machine shop several years ago.

This engine is all stock except for air cleaner and exhaust...

I'll just reassemble it with his OEM cam, P/R, and tubes.

FWIW...
My friend has been to my place several times over the course of this sudden "ticking" sound" inspection. He brought his bike to me around 6/4.

As I show him the metal in the cases, oil pan, damaged oil pump, etc..  He just keeps shaking his head saying, "but it was running so well..."   :nix:

This is the S&S Cycle video on the breathers. Short, and not a lot of detail.

If I go that route, I'll never make it to the bike!

Honestly, I don't find much of a difference, for me it was about less dust. The bike is a 2016 Heritage with fishtails and a 21" wheel, so it's just a cruiser.

Quote from: turboprop on July 11, 2025, 05:17:49 AMThis is an interesting product. At a time when the industry has moved on from the TC, for a big company like S&S to spend IRAD money is a big deal. They must have identified an issue that they thought could be improved and that the market would be enough to commit researches. There is something here.

I cannot help but think that someone within S&S or with close ties is doing something with their TC, probably racing, and discovered a better way to build the mousetrap. Maybe.

I have a set of Vulcan breather plates in one of my TC124s. Engine seems pretty tight, but there is some oil carryover out of the vents. Not a lot, but some. I also cannot help but think the gains from using these valves is not simply restricting oil vapor.

Time reveals all.

My exact thought, TC has been out of production for seven years now. And for S&S to  create this, they have determined some gain from it. I'd love to inspect these.

Move it side to side while pushing it on goes on a lot easier than trying to push it straight on.

I put the end of the hose in a cup of hot water (microwave for a minute or such, then carry the cup to the shop) - it's a very tight fit, and the heat allows the plastic to relax slightly. Do not microwave the hose :embarrassed:
