Title: McMaster Carr p/n for CV-40 ss allen screws?
Post by: JamesButler on October 06, 2018, 07:32:23 AM
Anyone have the McMaster-Carr part #'s for the stainless steel CV-40 Allen-head screws that are used to replace the stock (easily- stripped soft-aluminum Japanese version of the Phillips head) screws?
P/N for (4) float bowl and washers
P/N for (4) top cover and washers
P/N for (3) accelerator pump screws

Some say using stainless steel fasteners in zinc/alumimun runs the risk of galvanic corrosion to the zinc/aluminum. Maybe better to use zinc or chromate plated steel screws?

Been using stainless steel for years no problem. Use a little anti-seize or bees wax.

go to your neighborhood hardware store and get the screws. they'll be cheeper and you can get them today if you need them. take a sample screw along so you get the right ones. i've used SS on my bike for over 20 years and never had any galling or corrosion form from using them.

Since Tractor Supply came to my area,I use them for my hardware. They have a good source grade 8 and metric.
