Title: Removing Rockout rocker shaft inserts
Post by: Rockout Rocker Products on January 31, 2018, 08:17:37 PM
The question comes up now & then about how to remove Rockouts should you need to. First, remember you'll only need to if you want to disassemble the support plate/rocker arm/shaft assembly, otherwise just remove the whole thing as a unit. Should you need to take it apart, user SKYDUDE426 over on HD Forums did a nice video showing how it's done... https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touring-models/1216160-removal-of-rockout-rocker-shaft-inserts.html#post17035492 (https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touring-models/1216160-removal-of-rockout-rocker-shaft-inserts.html#post17035492)

There are other ways... screwing a 5/16 tap in from the top & tapping on the and of the tap is another way.... the Rockout will push out along with the tap.

My thanks to Skydude for taking the time & sharing

Thanks

One thing you'll notice in the video is that it takes a pretty good amount of force to tap them out. This is because they are LOCKED against the shaft, doing their job. You'll see in some competitor's videos that theirs pretty much push right out, hardly any force against the shafts.
