Title: Left Flywheel ???
Post by: SanB2013 on June 12, 2018, 07:37:04 AM
I've been looking for a good set of flywheels for a Panhead project I'm working on and while searching eBay I've noticed there are mostly right side wheels and no left side wheels. Is there a reason why are there more right side wheels than left side?   Does something that happens to a left wheel?

The left wheel is the bigger/ heavier side, So for relatively stock builds, it maintains a lot of inertia. As for reasons why they may get damaged could depend on the era your looking for. Some out put shafts had keyways, where others didn't, and if the tapper broke loose, it causes damage to the hole. If it was me, I'd be looking into the Truitt Osborn heavy wheels, not very expensive, consistent forging for better balancing, and no previous balancing holes to have to work around.
