Title: TRW S&S piston Years
Post by: JSD on March 05, 2022, 10:37:31 PM
Can some one tell me what year S&S stopped using TRW 2800 & 2900 forged stroker pistons in pans & shovels? Also is Wiseco doing Stroker pistons for S&S as the 106-5579 looks to be a Wiseco

S&S stopped using TRW pistons a long time ago. Probably over 20 years. TRW isn't the same company it used to be either.

That part number you have isn't a current S&S part number.

I had 2 sets of the TRW pistons S&S had in their 86" kits go bad, in 1987. IIRC they were soft and the rings would not stay seated. Used a tanker full of oil coming back from Daytona. I got so disgusted, bought a Evo.

Mine where on a 4 1/2" bored .060" and road the wheels off that shovel not 1 problem. Sounds like a run in problem. Or Boring & where the Rods True ?

Everything was fine except the pistons. S&S admitted the pistons were bad to my builder who did a lot of S&S 84, 86, and 93 kits. My builder sourced pistons from other than S&S, J&E IIRC, and fixed it.
