2020 Lowrider S. I've had this intermittent problem when downshifting it doesn't go into gear, press the shifter, nothing, let the clutch lever out and it clicks. Repeat the process several times and then it will go into the next lower gear. When I installed taller risers I eliminated that plastic yellow adjuster mechanism and went with the clutch cable like on TC's/Evo's and adjust accordingly. The trans upshifts flawlessly, no clutch slipping, neutral easy to find. I can't find anywhere on the internet that the shift pawl springs in M8's are a problem. Any idea's? Should I try re-adjusting the clutch?
Edit: Shift linkage is tight, not sloppy.
I'd readjust the clutch. Bias all the tight side to make I'm getting full disengagement. Actually, harder to downshift over up, under a load.

I recently encountered this exact issue on our 22 Low Rider ST. I was ready to pull the trans apart however found the issue to actually be excessive friction in the shift mechanism. I adjusted the shift arms as far outboard from the case and sprayed the shift shafts & linkage joints with Fluid Film and the bike now shifts perfectly.

Would you back out the adjuster a 1/2 turn, or 3/4?

I did adjust the 2 heims away from the case, if that's what you are referring to. Have a couple threads I can go further.
I think he is referring to not enough end play at primary

Concerning the play in the shift shaft that goes through the primary, my friend has a Lowrider S, checked that shaft end play today, tight as can be, no problems like I'm having.
Have tried a little lube on the contact points?

Which contact points? Outside of the primary contact points are either splined, or Heims. The Heims move freely.
Not to wake up Earl, but I do run Redline Heavy Shockproof, is that a no no in the M8 trans?

I have run redline in my gearboxes for years and years really like it. a few years back i had a conversation with a oil engineer who told me redline oil is hydroscopic and would suck in moisture and for lots of bikes that sit around lots that wasn't good.
I also have been running heavy Shockproof in multiple bikes, for over 20 years, with no problems, like moisture absorption, etc. I was grabbing at straws with my comment about fluid change. I re-adjusted the clutch, backed out the adjuster a half turn. It has helped a little. One observation, I have a tendency to rest my foot on the shifter anticipating the downshift, that appears to have some effect on my problem, but not 100%. when I pay attention and keep my foot off, it is hit or miss on the problem I experience. Resting my foot on the shift levers on my Evo FXR, and TC Roadking doesn't affect shifting in anyway. I'm not convinced resting my foot on the shift lever causes what I am experiencing. Guess I'll live with it. Appreciate all the responses.
