Title: Cam Gear Question
Post by: Dirtsurgeon on April 07, 2010, 08:56:44 AM
Going to help a buddy tonight with a problem with his sporty.
He pulled off the cover and noticed that it appeared a cam gear had
almost slid out from underneath the push rod.

Question is.....can we just pry up somehow on the rod and tap the
whole thing back in or is there too much risk of bending the rod.
You can see it's just barely on the edge. Doesn't need much.
On the other hand, it wouldn't take much to bend the push rod I think.

might as well bite the bullet now because even if you get the lifter roller back on the cam you still have to deal with all the pressure pushing the cams out of place to reinstall the cover. you need to loosen the rockers and get pressure off the cams or you will have a real hard time getting the gear cover back on.
