I always got a kick out of the differences. One guy can lift a crank shaft out of a 400 cuin gasser, on a similar sized diesel it might weigh 2 times as much. Everything is at least twice as heavy, but then when you crank out a crap load more torque at 1500 RPM it puts some strain on parts.
I am an adult?? When did that happen, and how do I make it stop?!

Yup.
That and linear longevity.
A little gasser all pumped up will put out pwr, for a short while,   but not like 700K  miles.
Every diesel I ever owned went past the 800K mile mark, some a lot more B4 and major work.
