Title: Can you tell what model this bike is by the s/n??
Post by: billbuilds on August 12, 2021, 04:51:15 AM
I came across a Shovelhead project for sale on CL that's a couple hours drive from me but I'm not sure what model it is. The guy that inherited it has no idea, says he knows nothing abouty Shovelheads in his add. The engine and frame s/n start withs 2F followed by five digits and ending in H8. My understandingis that the H8 denotes a production year of 1978 and that tis numbering system was used between 1970 and 1980. The 2F is what's stumping me. I have the What Fits What book that details the different numbering systems that the Moco used. I see a 2A which WFW says is for an FLH and FLHP and a 2C which denotes an FX kickstart Superglide. I do not see a 2F listed, only a 7F which WFW says denotes an XLCR. Anybody know what 2F denotes for model?

Thanks. I had a 1980 FXS 1340. Its s/n started with 7G. WFW left that one out too.
