Title: Pan head style rocker covers for twin cam
Post by: Coff 06 on November 17, 2021, 11:07:08 AM
Has anyone used the aftermarket pan head rocker boxes on a twin cam ?
There's a few different ones out there.Just wondering if I could find someone who's tried some.I'm sure there's good and bad.Trying to sort it out before I pull the trigger on some.
Also going to get a flat style timing cover to match the look.

A guy I know in Sac that did some customizing used them all the time. He was pretty fond of them. I have no personal experience with them tho.

I have used the Vulcan kit on a sporty years ago. They looked good but the rubber gaskets were tough to keep from seeping.

Thanks for that info Phil.I've been looking off and on for a while now. I seem to always end up back to the Dirty Bird Concepts kit. There's certainly a few different ones.I'm still open but I think it's what I'm going for.      Coff 06

I did a build for a customer,124" conversion, who supplied me with a Vulcan pan conversion he bought at a swap meet. Needless to say, he was ill informed, and was sold a set up for an EVO. I ordered him the proper ones (#1) for his build specs. They come in 2 different height configurations depending on cam lift. 1- They can be removed without removing the engine. 2- The other, engine has to be removed. :banghead:

Read some reviews of the Vulcan that they tend to start leaking after a time.  Any thoughts?

I also wonder how they compare to stock when it comes to keeping them clean?

Maybe they made them to work like the original panhead rocker covers, which start leaking as soon as you install them and start the engine the first time... :soda:

I'll be more than happy to post some pics when they show up.Been thinking about this upgrade for years.Just came up with some MAD money and finally pulled the trigger. Also picked up a flat billet cam chest cover to add to the look.
Sorry Hoss, I run an open element with a end cap   :hyst:

Nice!  It has that "What's different?" effect.

So what do we call this?  A Twink Pan?  :)
