Trying to get this bike back to original. PO put different handlebars and risers. When handlebars are turned all the way either way they contact the speedo housing. I ordered new bars from Harley so they should be the right ones. I'm finding a few used Risers out there. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the OEM risers were only about 1 in. tall. This is for a 1995 Harley Heritage Softail Classic. thanks
Correct, they are not very tall, about 1" or so.
Thanks for the reply Hossamania
The dealer should have them in stock.
Phil can get them for you too.
Dash Bulbs. Just found out that the HIGH/LOW bean indicator bulb is a 24 volt bulb. HD # 71092-68A or 1450. How do they get 24 volts at that point . rest of the bike is 23 volts. Burnt out a couple before finding that out. Thanks.

I'm assuming you meant the rest of the bike is 12 volts? Not sure how that bulb could be 24 volts. That would be a new one one.
Meant to say rest of the bike is 12 volts.
Yes I Meant 12 Volts Thanks HOS
Where are you getting the information that it is 24Volt?
If I remember the hi beam indicator isn't very bright, maybe it calls for the 24v bulb on 12v so it is dim and not glaring at night.
I thought that too so I looked it up thinking I could learn something. Only descriptions I found were 12V.

Found this on HD forum. Note 2nd from last number
I looked that number up and every website lists it as 12 volt, so couldn't tell you what's going on with the 24v info.

I read that as a 'joe blow' a GE P/N to replace a HD P/N
I can see some logic using a 24V bulb to replace a 12V bulb, i.e. a dim but still visible High Beam Indicator
BUT that does not translate to the HD P/N being a 24V Bulb, AS it is NOT
Ok Sorry of I led anyone astray.
Interesting bit of info. I did find that bulb listed as 24 volts in many places when searched as #1450 (the series 1157 etc are found in). I also noticed remarks that the same bulb was available in different voltages but didn't pursue it further. I suspect the list the OP is using was compiled by someone to avoid the premium price the MOCO asks for common bulbs.
After digesting this I can see that less power in means less power out (lumens). In the same way putting a 12 volt bulb in a 24 volt system usually results in a bright light for a short period of time. :crook: You change the E=IR formula and slow down the flow. Also, the resistance in a filament changes as it heats up. It may be done in this case to try to get longer life from the filament.
