i know drags get a bad write up. any thoughts on tapered turbos and a price for a good used set. thanks
david lee if you like drag pipes run them.I got em on my shovel and its music to my ears.
I love the sound of drags on Shovels! You can put a 1/4" bolt through them to break up reversion and help a little with performance.
You make lollipops and put them near the end of the pipes.
They keep down the reversion in the exhaust, this keeps from fouling the intake charge with some cams, and also gives a little back pressure to aid in low end torque. I use Eyebolts and weld a fender washer to them.

Or you can use those KW baffles cut to whatever size you want.I cut mine in half.

youve convinced me my drags do have some type of baffles.ill keep them on theve been on for 35yrs and still look new
I hate to tell you, but those are technically not drag pipes. Drag pipes have no muffler body.
Easy enough to tell if yours have baffles, just look inside them.
Cycle Shack ?

what would you call mine then
I think they are Cycle Shack and they call them a Slash Cut Muffler Pipe Set
Weren't Cycle Shacks slip on mufflers?
Pythons or Paughco were one piece like those?
I don't see any shovelhead pipes listed on their site anymore but these Softail slash cut are not slip-ons. I don't doubt there are others making similar exhaust systems though.

mine were bought here in australia in 1984 from a genuine hd dealer
:nix:
If from the dealer than they are probably HD "performance" exhaust, before they started calling that stuff Screamin' Eagle. Which, by the way, were made by Cycle Shack...
And yes, Cycle Shack made one piece pipe/mufflers, used them for long time. In fact have a set on my '77 FLH. Bummer about Cycle Shack. What a loss.
