Title: M8 stock clutch springs with stage 2?
Post by: hdrider47 on March 30, 2019, 03:33:55 AM
I know that the Harley SE Stage 2 kit does not come with heavier clutch springs and the Stage 3 kit does come with heavier springs.  So are the stock clutch springs okay with Stage 2 or is it better to have the heavier springs?  Bike is a 2019 FLHXS.

I have been using the Barnett red springs with good results.

Good question.  I could find much on this when I did my stage 2.  I noticed AIM had heavier springs for $45 so I installed them (without the shims).  Nothing scientific, but I don't feel any slipping.  They did add a few pounds of effort to the left hand though.  I need to get this bike on a dyno ASAP. Lol

My friend has a 2019 114" FLTRXS and I'm pretty sure he never did anything to his primary side of the motor when he installed CR460 cams. 125/115 SAE

All 2019s have the 10 disc clutch, whether 107 or 114

I have been shimming the stock springs for the cam swaps you can get 3 shims in most and it will hold 125 with no issues . again the tq curve will have an effect . I had bags of shims left over from the hundreds of bandit clutch installs so I am set for a few years

When I went to 117 on my softail I used a slightly stronger OEM spring AU $ 7.00 each and only slightly harder clutch pull . works great. Max.

They didn't do anything with my clutch on my '17 with RS468 - 105/120 - it seems fine, should I be looking at springs?
