Anyone know what year HD started putting catalytic converters in their exhaust systems? My 2005 don't have one, but my 2013 does. Thanks, Frank
2010 Touring models.
I think 2009 California, and 2010 all 50 states.
Seems to me the CVO 110's had them in the slipons in 07-08.
Speaking only from a Big Twin perspective:
The 2007 MY Technical Forum mentions "Some CVO motorcycles require catalyst."
2008 MY Technical Forum lists California Softails and Touring models with catalysts, but surprisingly no mention of Dynas, however, part number comparison shows the California Dynas had them too.
I don't remember any blanket statement in the 2010 MY Technical Forum mentioning that all Big Twins now have cats (but they did to meet all "50 State" EPA regs), however, there are notes on certain models about the mufflers being "commonized" for California and 49-state models.
All the relevant documents are in the library here (Thanks FSG!) and make for good historical reading. I was surprised that heated O2 sensors were on some 2010 models (Trikes), I didn't think heated sensors were introduced until 2012.
2009 cvo's have them in the head pipe.
My 2010 had the cats and they destroyed the performance of the 103".... A Fuel Moto ( catless ) headpipe solved the problem and after doing just a stage1 with a PC5 the bike ran fast and great.
It is surprising what cat, vs. not cat and a tune makes. I cut out the cat on my 2016 Limited, plus street tuned with a TTS and it would pull right away from Gonenorth's 2016 limited.
CR570-2 cams were even better. Still running the stock AC and mufflers, contrary to popular thought.
