Daughters Buell (Blast) has a front exhaust bolt that the threads are worn nearly gone. I'm open to suggestions on removal techniques that could work. If it goes well, great! We have a new stud to put in. If it goes bad, 'eh,,,,so what. We'll send it out to be jigged and machined out. Good suggestions anyone?
You could try double nutting it to get it out, spray some penetrant and let it soak, or spot weld a nut on to it. The heat seems to help get the stud out. A little back and forth helps as well.
Hoss,
Thanks! Yeah, That was exactly how, (left unchecked) I was going to go about it. Still open for other suggestions to consider.
Put a vice grips on it and wiggle it out.
Heat stud till red hot let red color go away (as in cooling )apply canning wax . It will creep into the threads and stud will unscrew with little effort . This is an old trick Detroit mechs used to remove dutchmens.
Wax may flame up hit flame with a rag to smother and ad more wax .
