Sorry for hogging the forum today, but this will be my last question I promise :)
When I took the engine in bits, there was no spacer fitted to the end of the plastic breather.
I've now got a metal one and calculated I need a 4mm spacer.
But question is, whats the best material to make it from?.. I have various plastics, Stainless and brass.. guess it don't get much end load and was thinking brass may be the way to go?

I'd use stainless.

Isn't the stock one plastic, black, hard, maybe fiberglass impregnated epoxy?
Do watch the working temps when messing with plastics.
There is very little thrust, they don't want it to rattle.

He has switched to a metal breather.
Yes, I've made a .150" stainless one. It's with me now to surface grind the second side at work as I don't have soft jaws on my home machine ;)
12L14 or 1050 will work just fine.
Final qperation will be to surface grind to the dedicated dimension.
Easy peasy.

Yes, its 3.8mm...
The chamfer is to clear the rad on the breather. It's a special technique so you get points and flats to fling the oil outward :unsure:
Or maybe a lot of judder on the c/sink, should of done it by hand.... 😉
