Title: Starter clutch
Post by: koko3052 on June 20, 2021, 10:57:30 PM
'05 Fatty starter clutch is on the way out. I remember researching a replacement from the automotive guys as being considerably cheaper years ago but now can't find my notes & can't seem to bring anything up searching here.
Has anyone got that info? TIA.

I see guys recommend Spragg starter clutch. Do a search for this & you will find lots of information.

also WAI #54-82401 at your local NAPA will yield a starter clutch used in the Toyotas at a lot less $$

while Van Bergen Weldon spragg is also a popular choice  http://www.starterdrives.com (http://www.starterdrives.com/)

That's the one I got.  Been in 4 years now.  The old one was slipping and making that grinding sound.  Here is a video tutorial I watched:

Well thanks guys. I researched all of the leads given & what an amazing difference in pricing from $182 (USD) & I presume shipping from Spragg USA to Can., to $79 shipped (CAD) from Fort Nine for the All Balls. I'll have to give my money to them.

FortNine treats the Canadian folks so good it's sometimes hard to be loyal to others.  They used to not charge taxes when shipped out of their province but I think the feds killed that now.  You still have to price check and look at the source sometimes.  That international border is a killer to us up here when it comes to shipping and broker fees.
