Post by: bxbutch on July 14, 2021, 03:04:29 PM
I  noticed my belt was riding all the was to the left on my 2020 heritage tire adj. correct . I went to Harley & looked at every M8 softtail & they were all the same as mine. service manual says thats a sign misalignment. Any comments ? Thanks Butch

Belt on my 01 FLHT has always tracked to the outside going forward and if rolled backwards to the inside.  Been doing that for almost 21 years and 117,000 mi, original belt.  Unless you are seeing chaffing or damage to the belt edge I wouldn't worry about it.

Measure the axle side to side to verify proper adjustment for peace of mind. Most all belts seem to favor one side going forward, other side going backwards.

Check the pully bolts, some have reported them loose.

Mine runs to the outside and I know for sure my wheel is in alignment. Every belt driven Harley I have ever owned ran to the outside.
