Title: 1995 Dyna rear fender/seat mount bolt threads stripped
Post by: 1982fxr on July 30, 2021, 01:13:33 PM
It takes 1/4 x 28 nft threads.  I didn't realize helicoil kits were as expensive as they are.

Is that the way to go or is there some other way I should consider?

Tap it out to the next size up in SAE or metric?

Or replace the nut with a removeable one.

Aren't most coarse thread?  1/4"x 20

I would convert it to the later model kit like one for a 99. Just look at a later bike and trace the outline of the hole and buy the seat screw kit for like 4 bucks. All done nice n neat and easy to fix in the future.
