Title: Generator light
Post by: irnhdmike on March 04, 2009, 10:30:13 AM
Do you need a generator light for your charging system to function properly? Also when should the points in regulator that isolate the battery from the generator close?   69XLH

Hey Salty . Delco mechanical regulator. Will be a while before I can run bike. Wife won't approve if I start it in the house. Too much snow and cold here to move it out. Trying to check as much stuff as possible while I wait for spring. Took gen. to shop . Said it's ok. I think the regulator should have continuity between Batt and arm terminals when I turn key on??? Battery passes all the tests I can do on it. SG,cell voltage and load by cranking 10 -15 secs.

Found an intermittent ground on regulator. Betting this big part of problem. Don't know how many times I checked this.
