Title: '77 xl Compensator Sprocket Keeps backing out.
Post by: Mr. Smiggles on March 12, 2009, 06:54:05 AM
Any thoughts on why the compensator nut would back out? Runs fine otherwise w/ a little extra vibration (mounts?).
Backed out once, ran a tap up the threads and replaced w/ new nut and loc-tite. Backed out again after a few hundred miles. Threads are on the ragged edge. will need to replace if it happens again and I really don't want to have to split the cases on a bike i just bought.
Engine is stock 1000 w/ cv carb from an '86 xl.
Just curious, has anyone heard of a crank going out of balance during normal use?
