Title: 1983 FLHTP belt drive?

A friend bought a 1983 FLHTP that had been gone through recently. He says it has belt drive and he was told that was an option. All of the '80-'84 5 speed touring bikes I've ever seen had the enclosed rear chain.
Has anyone heard of a belt on an '83?
